Impact of Exposure to Sexually Explicit and Exploitative Materials (December 2013)


As mediums for sharing material electronically expand, parents must consider the ways exposure to sexually explicit materials may impact youth and adolescents. The National Coalition to Prevent Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation encourages parents to have on-going dialogue with their children about materials they might encounter, explain possible consequences, as well as consistently monitor their children's electronic activities.

Impact of Media and Technology on Youth (December 2013)

Media and technology are changing the world as we know it.  Our children are drawn to this new way of communicating and learning. The National Coalition to Prevent Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation encourages parents to speak with their children openly about media and technology use and set appropriate limits and safeguards.

Health Impact of Child Sexual Abuse (January 2011)
One study suggests that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 7 boys will be the victim of some type of sexual abuse or assault before the age of 18. With 75 million children in the United States, this translates to almost 15 million children who will be sexually victimized and abused over the next 18 years.
